The Ohio GOP, COVID-19 and Redistricting

For months now, the GOP troglodytes infesting the General Assembly have made it their mission to undermine every effort to mitigate the community spread of COVID 19. They have passed legislation which limits the authority of the Ohio Board of Health to deal with this pandemic and will undermine efforts to deal with future pandemics. They have passed legislation limiting the ability of state and local agencies and governments and boards of education, to impose mask mandates. They are debating legislation to ban ALL vaccine mandates. And...of course...Dave Yost has joined 23 other GOP death cult attorneys general in threatening to sue the Biden administration over the COVID 19 vaccine mandates that were recently announced.

The depraved indifference displayed by the Ohio GOP to the consequences of their actions is an atrocity bordering on, if not stepping over the line, into sociopathy. Their actions have led us to the point where hospital ED's, ICU's and medical units are at capacacity...due to the skyrockketing numbers of COVID 19 cases. This means people who suffer and auto accident...a heart attack...a stroke...will not be able to find a hospital bed, ICU or not, in the state of Ohio. And their deaths can be laid at the Ohio GOP's feet. But this was all preventable. Had the sociopaths in the General Assembly actually supported mask mandates, vaccination, social distancing, and other efforts aimed at limiting the community spread of COVID 19, we wouldn't be here. We wouldn't be on the verge of Ohio's healthcare system collapsing. We would not be seeing needless illness and death in a populatio that refused to wear a mask or get vaccinated. Very nearly every one of the deaths that has resulted from this latest COVID 19 surge was preventable. Ohio's Republicans let...it...happen. They let it happen for no better reason than to make a political point. Each and every death can be laid at their feet. Each and every death can be hanged around their necks until they choke on them.

Now we come to Ohio's efforts at redistricting. Governor Mike Dewine, this week, signed off on a redistricting map he knew to be gerrymandered and unconstitutional because "...there’s not going to be an agreement, and that we could go tomorrow and the next day and the next day and it simply is not going to occur". Profiles In Courage this ain't. The upshot is that the DeWine/LaRose/Huffman approved map give the GOP, for the foreseeable future, a supermajority in the General Assembly. Given the almost pathological efforts to promote the spread of COVID 19 amongst Ohio's citizens and their children, It is my firm conviction that they simply cannot be trusted with political power at all, and their efforts to retain a strangle-hold on the General Assembly need...to...be...stopped.

The Democratic Party, the "opposition" party, needs to start doing some SERIOUS opposing

Of all the disturbing things done by the Trump administration since it took office, the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil is the most worrisome.
